The two-day event kicks off with a session discussing cosmetics as the next emerging Halal sector, and includes presentations on identifying Halal ingredients, how to market end products, and a case study of the development of UK brand Saaf Pure Skincare.
Panel discussions to discuss certification issues
The founder of Saaf, Dr Mah Hussain, will also be taking part in a panel discussion examining the development of global standards for cosmetics and toiletries.
Also a taking part is Rafaiq Zakaria, director of the strategic management division of the Department of Standards Malaysia, which has developed the Malaysian Halal standard on cosmetics and toiletries.
Similarly, Darhim Hashim, CEO of the International Halal Integrity Alliance, who has worked with the Cosmetics and Toiletries and Fragrance Association (CTFA) of Malaysia to develop a global standard, completes the panel.
A second panel discussion examining the procedures and issues in certifying Halal cosmetics and toiletries will follow on directly from the first, rounding off the day’s events.
