A total of 200 Malaysian services providers, associations and agencies in the services industry showcased their expertise and competencies to the West Asian and African markets. The services providers were grouped into 13 clusters namely; construction, engineering, technology & innovation (ETI), professional services, healthcare and hospital related services, financial services, logistics,transportation and shipbuilding, energy & power generation, franchise, ICT services, oil & gas services, education & specialised training, designing services and art.
The three-day exhibition attracted 3,521 visitors, including businessmen from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon, Bahrain, Kenya and
South Africa. Malaysian exhibitors at MSE 2009 reported potential sales and projects valued at RM8.47 billion. These projects were mainly in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Morocco, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Kenya.
The projects under consideration include services for architectural design, construction, renewable energy, oil & gas services, franchising and water treatment & management.
YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his counterpart, HH Sheikha Lubna also witnessed the signing of several MOUs at the opening ceremony:
• MoU between MATRADE and Dubai Export Development Corporation for the promotion of bilateral trade between Malaysia and UAE;
• Joint Venture Agreement between Skali Group and Tuwaiq Group, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on sales and implementation of E-Government and E-Business in Saudi Arabia; and
• MoA between HG Solution Sdn Bhd. and Al Taraf For Development & Investment LLC, Oman for the appointment of Al Taraf as an agent and partner in the Sultanate of Oman in
providing solution to mercury contamination in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
MSE 2009 was also the venue for the launching of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Directory published by MATRADE in collaboration with the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council
(MOGSC), Offshore Structure Fabricators Association of Malaysia (OSFAM) and Association of Malaysia Oil & Gas Engineering Consultants (MOGEC).
