The Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) organised the MIM-KAS Human Capital Management (HCM) Forum 2009 at Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur. The HCM Forum is held yearly by MIM for HR practitioners to come together to discuss, share and learn about trends and issues pertaining to human capital development in the country, and how MIM can help HR practitioners in their professional development.
“Towards Responsibility Management”
This year’s theme “Towards Responsibility Management” discussed what organisations could do to create a healthy business environment for all to thrive in and how organisations could create sustainability through responsible management practices. Among the issues discussed at the forum was what responsibility management represent. How could businesses protect the environment, build and improve social well-being while at the same time gain profitability?
The speakers invited for the forum and shared with the audience each of their respective experiences and initiatives in CSR were Dr Geoffrey Williams, Director Academy of Responsible Management, YBhg. Dato’ Dr Hashim bin Abdul-Wahab, Vice President, Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), Tuan Haji Syed Abdul Jalil Syed Abdul Rashid, Head of Corporate Responsibility, UEM Group Berhad, YBhg Datuk Ir. Wahiruddin bin Abd Wahid, Director of Corporate Affairs, Shell Malaysia and Mr Lim Eng Weng , Managing Director, RICOH Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
“As responsible employers and employees, we have become aware that environmental and social well-being needs to be balanced with financial profitability and organisational growth in order for businesses to be sustainable. Responsible ethical management thus provides an opportunity for today’s businesses to manage into the future, creating a future where businesses thrive in an environment and society that further feeds to the profitability and continued existence of these businesses.” said Dr Wilson in his welcome address.
The forum also witnessed the MoU Signing between MIM and the Academy of Responsible Management (ARM) for the collaboration to deliver the CSR training programmes.
More than 150 attendees gathered at the forum. They included CEOs, MDs, HR Managers and Practitioner from various companies, both large and small.
