The Star Outstanding Business Awards 2010 launched

The Star Outstanding Business Awards 2010 (SOBA) was officially launched on Thursday to inspire and drive up-and-coming local companies and small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) towards greater success. The Award, which is organised by The Star, was officiated by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Mohd Hanadzlah at The Royale Chulan.


Present at the launch were Star Publications (M) Bhd Group managing director and CEO Datin Linda Ngiam and executive director Ng Beng Lye besides official representatives from partners and sponsors.

Maxis Bhd is the main presenter of the awards while Standard Chartered Saadiq is the Gold Sponsor, with Shang Hai as official business magazine. RedFM, 988 and SuriaFM are the official radio stations.

The Awards are supported by Bursa Malaysia and audited by BDO.

The Award pays tribute to local non-listed companies and SMEs striving to carve a niche in the business world.

It marks the achievement of enterprises that have made a difference to the nation’s economy and opened new frontiers.

 

Objectives of SOBA

The Star Outstanding Business Awards are established to promote excellence and stimulate positive competition, showcasing the achievements attained by outstanding businesses with the following key objectives:

    * To recognise the role and contributions of outstanding businesses towards the nation and the economy;
    * To encourage local enterprises to continue developing and elevating their businesses;
    * To motivate and inspire home-grown businesses to aim for excellence in their products and services; and
    * To celebrate and highlight the achievements of local enterprises that have contributed to the growth of the community.
