Sunway University College was formed with the belief and understanding that higher education is vital to the progress of the nation. We are dedicated to becoming a world-class tertiary institution in providing education of the highest quality.
The institution was founded in 1987 and by 1993, the Sunway University College campus was officially inaugurated by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the then Prime Minister of Malaysia. Occupying 22 acres of prime land in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, the RM 120 million campus is among the largest and most modern private institutions in Malaysia.
In 2009, Sunway University College introduced 4 brand new joint-degree Masters’ Programmes developed along with Lancaster University (UK), with the aim of developing bright individuals aspiring to move into senior leadership roles in organisations.
The Masters in Money, Banking and Finance (MBF) is designed to equip students with the necessary tools to pursue a career in the banking and financial services sectors as well as in higher education. The professional training provided will allow graduates from this programme to work as economists in Central Banks, financial analysts in financial institutions and also prepare those who have interest to undertake doctoral research. The Masters in Management provides a broad introduction to a range of business and management disciplines. With its focus on developing a good understanding of business functions and the complex organisational issues which managers encounter, the programme provides an ideal preparation for a wide range of business and management careers. Like the Masters in Management, the Masters in Management with Law develops understanding of all business functions, and of the complex organisational issues particularly those with a legal aspect that managers often encounter. Finally, the MSc in Computer Science programme is a research-focused Master's degree designed for those wishing to enhance their knowledge and skills in pursuing a higher degree or a career in research-based organisations.
These part-time programmes enable individuals to attain a high quality British postgraduate degree which has been specially designed for the local market, at an affordable cost. Another distinctive feature of each programme is the award of dual certificates upon successful completion of the programmes – the first by Sunway University College and the second from Lancaster University.
Sunway University College also offers the Victoria University MBA Programme, a postgraduate programme with a track record of five strong years. Its vision is to empower individuals through learning and education, and providing the platform for individuals to upgrade themselves. The programme is designed to provide business management skills to managers who are graduates of commerce, business, engineering, science or humanities from diverse backgrounds, to equip them with the edge to advance on careers worldwide.
